“We aim to promote well-being within hospital patients, families, and staff in Oklahoma by performing at various hospitals and holding local benefit concerts for medical fundraising.”

Meet Our Team!

Lauren Kim

Co-Founder and Regional Director (OKC): Violin + Piano

Lauren Kim is a pianist and violinist from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She currently attends Casady School as a senior. She began playing both the piano and violin at age three. Lauren has won numerous competitions for both piano and violin, including the Steinway & Sons Piano Competition, the Piano League International Competition, the American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition, SWOSU’s Hubbard Males, SWOSU’s Breckenridge, and performed at Carnegie Hall. She is also a member of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra.

Eddy Kang

Co-Founder: Violin + Piano

Eddy Kang currently attends Harvard College as a sophomore studying biomedical engineering. He is a violinist from Edmond, OK who has been playing for 10 years. Eddy had served as concertmaster of the OKMEA All-State Orchestra and the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Orchestra. He was also co-concertmaster of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra. During his time with Harmony Ensemble, Eddy enjoyed watching smiles spread on the faces of hospital workers on their lunch breaks as he performed with the ensemble.

Rachel Xiang

Regional Director (Edmond): Piano + Viola

Rachel currently attends Edmond North High School as a senior. She has played piano for about 11 years, and had participated in several piano competitions. She has also played viola for 6 years, and has participated in both the North Central Honor Orchestra and OKMEA All-State.
Rachel first started her journey with music when she asked her parents for a piano. From then on, music has remained one of the most important things in her life. By becoming a member of Harmony Ensemble OK and playing at hospitals, she wants to share the joy of music with anyone who will listen.

Aiden Kim

Regianl Director (Stillwater): Cello

Aiden Kim is a cellist from Stillwater, OK. A senior at Stillwater High School, Aiden started playing cello when he was 4 years old in Boston, MA. Aiden has been a member of New England Conservatory Youth Orchestra, Howard County Gifted and Talented Orchestra for 2 years, Oklahoma Youth Orchestras for 3 years, and the North Central Honor Orchestra for 3 years. He has also attended OKMEA All-State Orchestra and the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain in 2024.
Aiden Kim fell in love with the cello at a young age and continues to play alongside his friends and family. He has many meaningful memories with the cello, even performing the national anthem at a Boston Celtics game. Through Harmony Ensemble OK, he wants to continue learning and playing with many new people and experiences.

Chloe Kim

Member (OKC) – Violin + Piano

Chloe Kim is a violinist and pianist from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She currently attends Casady School as a junior. She has played the violin and piano since the age of two. She was previously given the Strings Award at Casady School and served as concertmaster for 7th & 8th Grade Orchestra. Additionally, she won the Oklahoma Music Teachers’ Association competition. For piano, she was a winner for the Steinway and Sons Piano Competition. She is also a member of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra.

Danzel Chen

Member (OKC): Violin

Danzel Chen is a violinist from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is currently a senior at Casady School. Danzel began his musical journey with the piano at age seven, but soon discovered his love for violin at age ten. Since picking up the violin, he has earned numerous honors. Danzel was selected as a violinist in the 2023-2024 okMEA All-State Orchestra, 2021, 2022, and 2023 North Central Honor Orchestras, 2023 Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute Orchestra, and for his second year, the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra.
Danzel has been surrounded by music from a young age. His sister was also a pianist and violinist, as well as a singer. Danzel especially enjoys listening to Romantic Era Orchestral Music as well as Pop, Hip Hop, Rock, and Broadway music. Through his enthusiasm for all genres of music, Danzel hopes to spread the joy music has given him through Harmony Ensemble.

Stephan Zhang

Member (Stillwater): Violin

Stephan Zhang is a violinist from Stillwater, Oklahoma. He began playing the violin at the age of 4, and currently studies with Dr. Yena Lee of the University of Oklahoma. Stephan’s first notable award came at 7 years old, winning first place in the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition. Since then, he has been the first prize recipient in numerous competitions including the Keith Competition of the Oklahoma City Orchestra League, OKCPHIL Young Musician Competition, Charleston International Music Competition, OPUS National Music Competition, Hudson International Music Competition, and the American Virtuoso International Music Competition. Additionally, Stephan has performed in masterclasses for Mimi Zweig, Michelle Kim, Paul Kantor, Frank Huang, and most recently the Shanghai Quartet.
Beyond his solo achievements, Stephan currently serves as the concertmaster of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra, and has previously served as concertmaster of Oklahoma’s North Central Honor Orchestra, Oklahoma Youth Philharmonic, Oklahoma All-State Orchestra, and NYO2. He is also a member of the 2024 National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA).

Luca Maddox-Diaz

Member (OKC): Violin + Piano

Luca is a sophomore at Northeast Classen High School for Advanced Studies.  He has played violin for 10 years and piano for the last 5 years.  He began playing violin in New Orleans and has continued throughout his time in Oklahoma.  He is currently a member of the Classen High School Platinum Orchestra.  He has also participated in various piano and violin competitions, and continues to study piano with Jennifer Song and violin with Peter Nguyen.  He is excited to be a part of  Harmony Ensemble and sharing his love of music with others.

Jayden Nguyen

Member (OKC): Violin + Piano

Jayden is currently enrolled in Classen SAS Northeast High School as a freshman. He began learning piano at the age of five and soon started to take lessons for violin at the age of eight. Since then, Jayden has competed in many music competitions including OKCPHIL Young Musician Competition and more. He also participated in multiple orchestra groups such as the North Central Honor Orchestra and Oklahoma Youth Philharmonic. Jayden is excited to be a part of the Harmony Ensemble and hopes to spread his musicality as a musician.

Uma Geng

Member (OKC): Violin + Piano

Uma is a rising sophomore at Classen SAS High School. She has studied piano for five years under the mentorship of Mrs. Jennifer Song and spent one year with the New England Conservatory of Music. She also regularly participates in the Oklahoma Music Teachers Association (OMTA) events. Two years ago, Uma began playing the violin in her school orchestra and has been studying with Dr. Hong Zhu. Though relatively new to the world of strings, she is thrilled to be a member of the Harmony Ensemble and enjoys sharing music that brings joy to others.

Helen Ni

Member (Edmond): Viola

Helen Ni is a violist from Edmond, Oklahoma. She is currently a sophomore at Edmond North High school and is in the ENO Philharmonic orchestra. Helen first started with violin and piano when she was six years old, but took a long break and stayed with viola since was thirteen. She has studied with Peter Nguyen for two years since she began viola. Helen was selected as a violist for the 24-25 North Central Honor Orchestra, and is currently in OYP. Helen is excited to share her love of music as a viola player with the Harmony Ensemble.

Jules Wyckoff

Member (Norman): Cello

Jules Wyckoff is a junior at Norman High School. She has been playing cello for six years. She has performed with North Central Honor Orchestra, and last year performed at the Oklahoma Music Teachers Assosiation (OKMEA) with her orchestra. Recently having joined the ensemble she is more than excited to make music and memories with this group.

Cassie Solorzano

Member (OKC): Cello + Piano

Cassie is a freshman at Northeast Classen High School for Advanced Studies. She started piano at the age of 6 and cello at the age of 10. She has participated in North Central Honor Orchestra, OMTA Junior Competition, and OKCPhil’s Young Musician Competition. She has also served as principal cellist of the Oklahoma Youth Philharmonic for two years and is currently a member of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra. In addition, she is a member of Classen High School’s Symphony Orchestra. She believes music is a language that resonates with people of all backgrounds. She hopes to bring comfort and joy to others through music.

Alex Kim

Member (Stillwater) – Violin

Alex Kim is a violinist from Stillwater, Oklahoma. He currently attends Harvard College as a freshman studying economics/neuroscience/math. He started his piano at the age of 3 and violin at age 6. He was a member of the Howard County Gifted and Talented Orchestra for 3 years, been a member of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra since 2021, the North Central Orchestra for 3 years, and the OKMEA All-State Orchestra since 2023. He was also selected as a violinist for Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain in 2023 and 2024. He performed in Carnegie Hall in 2023 as a co-principal for the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra and also performed at the Stillwater Medical Foundation Ruby Gala as a guest performer. Alex is a winner of the 2024 OKCPhil Buttram Competition in the String Quartet division.
Alex has been inspired by all kinds of music from a young age. Besides the violin, Alex’s life revolves around the various melodies and rhythms that make up his daily life. From playing cheesy tunes on the piano to listening to soulful R&B, Alex is grateful for the opportunity to both listen and play to music. For Harmony Ensemble, Alex hopes to spread the beauty of music and how a simple tune can change one’s life.

Julia Ungvari

Member (OKC) – Cello

Julia Ungvari is a cellist from Edmond, Oklahoma, who currently attends Eastman School of Music as a freshman. She is in her 13th year of playing the cello, with experience in chamber orchestras, symphonic orchestras, and solo repertoire. She has played for 5 years in both the North Central Honor Orchestra and the Oklahoma Youth Orchestra. Some of her recent achievements include attending the finals of the Music Teachers National Association competition and winning the OKC Philharmonic’s Young Musician Competition’s senior lower strings division.

Samuel Zhou

Member (Edmond): Cello

Samuel is a freshman at the University of South Florida on a pre-med track. He began playing cello in middle school and taking private lessons in high school, and he has played for his school orchestra ever since, winning various regional and state-level awards. Samuel has been a member of the North Central Honor Orchestra for two years and has also participated in the OKMEA All-State Orchestra. Music has brought him some of his closest friends and fondest memories. Through Harmony Ensemble, Samuel hopes to bring that same joy to patients and grow as a musician.

Sophie Phan

Member (Edmond): Viola + Piano

Sophie Phan, a pianist and violist from Edmond, Oklahoma, is a freshman at the University of South Florida pursuing a pre-med track. She began piano at age 6, participated in OMTA achievement auditions and theory tests, and is the 2021-2022 Composition Festival Award Winner for her original composition for piano. Sophie started viola in 6th grade and has been a member of North Central Honor Orchestra for 4 years, and the OKMEA All-State Orchestra.
Music has brought Sophie into a great network of people, and her life wouldn’t be the same without it. Passionate towards service and music, Sophie aims to share the beauty and healing qualities of melodies for all to hear through Harmony Ensemble.
